July 2006

Ten people attended the meeting on July 15 at the Waverly SportsPage. Nebraska NSAI Chair Robert DeBusk read from The Songwriter's E-Tips and led discussion on Slash and Repair sessions. He also gave the lesson for the month, which was taken from the Nancy Moran NSAI Webcast.

After the lesson, group members played originals they were working on and received peer evaluation.

It was showcase night after the meeting, and many members performed their originals for a packed SportsPage. Our special guest was Charlie Burton, a well-known singer/songwriter around Lincoln and the state. Tip money raised was donated to the Nebraska National Guard to go toward the purchase of care packages for our troops serving overseas.

During the showcase, the group had a CD release party, celebrating its second compilation CD. The CDs are $10 each. Be sure to contact Robert DeBusk if you'd like to purchase one (or more).

Other Goings-On

In promotion of the compilation CD, Robert and Brad Bray decorated an entry in the Waverly Fourth of July parade.

The group will perform at the Zoo Bar in Lincoln on July 27, 9:30 p.m.-12 a.m., where we will have another CD release party.

Congratulations to NSAI member Daniel Christian on his successful trip to Nashville to record his new CD. We look forward to hearing it!
